Cintia Yamane Lemann explores in her work the essence of form (both in functional ware and sculpture) as a way to synthesise all her various influences.

Cintia is Brazilian of Japanese descent. She has a background in Architecture and Design and a black belt in Aikido. Architecture (in particular Japanese and Brazilian Modernism) combined with her appreciation for through the practice of Aikido have a deep influence on her work. The Architecture inspires her forms and their relationship with function and structure. It represents the Designer in her.  guides her practice.  is a concept that permeates Japanese Arts (martial and crafts) referring to the commitment to a practice, developing skills, pursuing beauty, spiritual strength, and integrity. It inspires the Artist and Craftsman in her.

She started Ceramics in 2013 when she moved to the Southern Highlands studying, and later working, at Sturt Craft Centre as the Pottery Technician before establishing her own studio in 2021.

In clay, she found a place where design, art, and craft can meet. For her, ceramics represents the convergence of form and functionality; skill and exploration; innovation and tradition; the mix of cultures; allowing her to constantly improve her technical skills and develop new ideas.

Cintia has been a finalist in Awards including Siliceous Award for Excellence in Ceramics in 2023 and received the Highly Commended Award at the Bowral Sculptural Prize in 2024.
